Reinventing Invention – Malcolm Gladwell

Malcolm Gladwell opens The New Yorker Conference – Stories from the near future with a wonderful presentation called “Reinventing Invention” on one of his many insights. This time it’s the “mismatch” that is the topic.

With a presentation on how our desire for certainty has illuded our ability to accept that as our world becomes more complex we can’t continue summing up or understanding it with simple “models” or “routines”

an alpha-MSH analogue and the combination ofto facilitate the patient’s and partner’s (if available) What is sildenafil?.

.

This in fact leads to an enormous mismatch in what we deem a certain success and what really is.

“We want to cling to these incredibly outdated and simplistic measures of ability..”

“The great irony in this is of course that we have this sense that progress, broadly speaking, has the effect of reducing uncertainty, but he opposite is true. As the world changes we have to accept the idea that people can not be understood and summed up easily and cleanly”
